This year sees the 15th Year of our Transport Festival the biggest and now one of the best liked events in the U.K. with a thousand + Exhibitors and thousands of Transport enthusiasts from all over the U.K. and Ireland coming to partake and visit our sea front Showground at Bodafon Fields, Llandudno.
We attract a large range of exhibits including some 300 Commercials of Lorries and Buses, 130 Motorcycles, 140 Tractors, with Bicycles, Stationary Engines Miniature Steam and some 250 Vintage and Classic Cars per day, with over 100 Trade Stand and Autojumble stall in their midst. Exhibitors start arriving from Friday and settle in ready for the gates to open at 9-00am on Saturday morning, followed at 10-00am by the starting of our Preserved Bus Service from outside the main gate of the showground to the Town centre’s Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza, where Old Tyme Fair, Steam Engines, Street Entertainers etc will be found on the towns streets, the Bus service runs throughout the 3 days until 5-00pm.
Returning to Llandudno
This year’s entries include a Guy Wolf Orme Bus Reg No JC 3735 returning to the Town. New to Llandudno Urban District Council in 1949, sold by them in October1975 to the Blanchard Family of Llandudno, who then sold it to coach Proprietor Midhurst. The present owner is Mr David Castleman from Bedfordshire he was able to purchase the Guy from Roger Austin from Northampton in 2005 who had owned it for 12 years it is now in the Livery of Thompson Tours of Stoke on Trent.
The interesting thing about this one, it was loaned to Colwyn Bay Council during 1969?
Also making a return is one of the Dolgarrog Aluminium Foden’s, the
1963 2 stroke Foden was given by the Aluminium Co to Bangor Tec College, unfortunately she was vandalised, all the windows were broken the lights smashed and instruments were broken, even the Cab timbers were rotten. The new owners Frank & Vera Wade from Cheshire have completely rebuilt it and affectionately call her “Eme” as her Reg No is EME 163B. Welcome home “Eme”
And continuing in the welcome home theme Mr David Riley also from Cheshire has entered a 1956 Ford E83W Reg No NCA 129, this vehicle will be returning to Llandudno after 20 years, once owned by Bruce Turner who ran Windsor Garage in Court Street Llandudno and has not been on the road for many a long year, maybe we might be able to reunite Bruce with his Ford again over the Festival weekend.
This year’s Saturday evening Road Run will again take us to Conwy, famous for its Edward the 1st, 13th Century Castle and Telford Suspension Bridge, by- passed a few years ago with a submersible concrete tube feat of incredible engineering,

considering before that, everything enroute to Ireland by road via the Port of Holyhead had to choose between the A5 through the mountains or through the castle walls of Conwy, which is retired now to be one of North Wales finest tourist attractions, bringing visitors from all over the world.
The road run will start at approx 6-00pm from the Showground and will be open to all Classes, it will be nice to see the vehicle owners cope with the narrow castle walls.
Sunday with the day exhibitors arriving from early morning,
Gates open at 9-00am, Classic Car capacity around three hundred including many car clubs also on a Sunday we host the Llandudno Crosville Gathering, attracting approx 30 Ex Crosville Buses. At 11-30am a small amount of vehicles from the Transport Festival including pre 1950 cars and Motorcycles leave the showground for the Station to join the Traction Engines etc taking part in the Victorian Extravaganza street parade at 12 mid-day.
6-00pm sees the start of the Sunday Evening Road run taking in the route of the Marine drive at the base of the Great Orme all classes are welcome apart from Double Decker Buses and again takes around 1hr.
Monday once again the gates open at 9-00am, Street Parade at 12 midday from the Railway Station. The show closes at 5-00pm

The Extravaganza
The Extravaganza Celebrates its 22nd Year with the new revamp beginning to take shape in the Town Streets with the modern fair now limited to a small area and the main street full of Traditional Fayre Ground attractions,
Street Entertainers, Traction Engines, Organs etc which will bring the event back to its Victorian roots and for the first time, the last remaining travelling Boxing Booth dating back from the late 1800’s will be visiting the Town.
Over the four fields of exhibits [which are now filled to capacity, with no more exhibits being accepted in all categories] there will also be an interesting display of some 75 active Stationary Engines displayed along the sea fence, you can also see Classic Military vehicles, Landrovers, Classic Campervans, Fire Engines, Classic Car & Caravan’s, Ambulances and even the Wynne Heavy Haulage Commercial Fleet and also a display of American Trucks.
